Hi,
I'm John Harvey, class of '72, and I'm running for Sheriff of Shelby County in '06. I am currently a Lieutenant with the SCSO and on the promotions list for Captain (though I doubt that will happen). I am also the department Technologist. My job is to develop and research new technology as it relates to the SCSO and fighting crime. One of my latest projects has recently been highlighted by Microsoft in the latest release of their database product Microsoft Visual FoxPro version 9.0. The press release can be viewed at www.johnharveysheriff.com/wasppressrelease.htm . There are approximately 100,000 developers worldwide using this product and three developers were mentioned in the version release, mine was one of them. Within the next month, Microsoft will be posting a case study on the W.A.S.P. program (one of two case studies to be posted).
The WASP system is one I have been developing for the last year and a half which makes our officers much more effective. I have given this program to many of the Mid-South area law enforcement agencies and now they are much more effective in dealing with criminals. My vision for the SCSO is that it become the hub of all law enforcement within a 100 mile radius of Memphis whereby law enforcement can communicate with each other effectively. We simply have to make our community a safer environment to stop the mass exodus of people. I believe that can only be done by changing criminal behavior through zero tolerance, much like was done in New York City. Please visit my website for more details on strategies to interdict crime in our metropolitan area.
I am having a fund raiser May 21st at Forrest Drive Civic Club, 869 Fite Rd at 2:00 pm. Tickets are $50.00 per couple. If you can't attend, but wish to donate, you can do so online with a PayPal account at my website - www.johnharveysheriff.com . There's also a lot of information there and testimonials from officers using the systems I've developed over the years. I would appreciate your help, your prayers and your support.
Thanks,
John
